Thumbs up WRXtra Oil Pressure Sender Installation Kit

Vendor: WRXtra.com
Product Link: Oil Pressure Sender Installation Kit

I wanted a no-nonsense kit to install my VDO oil pressure gauge, WRXtra's kit appeared to fill the bill so I paid for it via PayPal and waited. I received a bubble-padded envelope with the contents about a week later via USPS.

WRXtra's kit includes everything you need to install a oil pressure gauge in the rear oil gallery. They also include some excellent step-by-step instructions so that any newbie could easily get the sender installed. All the hardware included appears to be top-notch and is stainless steel where seel is used (the sender clamp and hardware).

The only thing that made the kit feel unfinished to me was the use of a tie-wrap to hold the SS line against the IC to keep the line from flapping around. It would have been nice for WRXtra to include the tie wrap as well, it was the only missing piece related to the kit.

Also, the proximity the SS line takes to some rubber hoses and the fact that you attach it to the IC which gets you metal-on-metal contact made me slightly uneasy. I had some 3/8" corrugated tubing used to wrap wires and stuff that I wrapped around the hose so that I wouldn't have to worry about the hose wearing through anything.

Price: At $50 it seems a bit expensive for what you are getting, but considering the completeness of the package I feel it is actually a good value as it saves you the hassle of trying to find all the correct fittings yourself. You know it will work.

Other than those two minor issues, I give the kit 9/10 bananas. If you're installing an oil pressure gauge in this location, I highly recommend this kit.

I'll see if I can get some pics to show the installed product.

Just wanted to add that I sent WRXtra a link to this review and they are now considering adding a tie wrap or two and some sort of protection to the SS line to prevent chafing. With that, I think the kit will be perfect!
