Default FS: cheap R tires, 225/50-16 BFG Comp TA R1 Rain

I totally forgot that I had a set of 225/50-16 BFG Comp T/A R1 Rain tires in the corner of my dad's basement. I spotted them Sunday when I dropped by for Father's Day.

These are the original Comp T/A R1 tire, not the later G-force R1. I bought them in 2001 when I last autocrossed regularly and were never mounted, still have stickers. Please note that they are the rain compound and thus will work wonderfully for autocross, but you will overheat the tread if you use them for a dry trackday (at least blistered, delaminated possibly). They have the usual Comp T/A asymmetrical sidewall with ~1 degree of camber "built in".

$100 or highest offer, pick them up in Wichita, Kansas. anything else can be negotiated. if you don't use this size but know someone who does, pass this along.

contact me via PM here or email to gashuffer at bigfoot dot com.

erm, not sure. I was dinking around on Fedex's site and the numbers coming back were insanely high.

hmm, even UPS ground looks to be double what it costs when I buy stuff from tirerack or discount tire. let me weigh a tire and be sure I'm using the right numbers... should be able to do that within the next day or two.

answers to anti.team's questions:
are these appropriate for autocross in the dry?
-- you bet. they will heat fast. if it rains obviously they'll really do nicely.

also, do you know if these will fit on stock WRX rims?
-- yes they will but it will be quite tight and the sidewall won't be ideally supported. they would work better with an RS rim or other 16x7 but obviously classing may prevent that.

it's no different than mounting a 225/50-16 Kumho Victoracer V700 on a 16x6.5 rim.

so ben is first in line and doug is second. I'll get a weight on them for an accurate shipping quote and take a few pics also-- they have some tread and aren't naked like a hoosier or anything.

thanks guys.

You'd be surprised how much you can save if you ship them via Greyhound. A front bumper from an RS was roughly $200 to ship via Fedex or UPS but Greyhound quoted me at only $50. Too bad they don't ship to Canada.

hey all, -- well, ben and doug at least...

sorry for the delay as it was a busy week. got down to my dad's house tonight and brought the tires home. here's a couple of quick pics so you have some idea what's up.

they are right at 50lb per pair so it looks like UPS wants about $70 to ship them. damn tirerack gets one hell of a bulk rate / corporate discount! --it's about half that from them. sorry dudes, but the tires are damn cheap.

speaking of which, I must honestly say that they do feel a bit firm. you can see that they are not cracking or rotting, and I have full confidence that they will be fine after scrubbing in. I'm sure the first run on them will be interesting unless you put a little bit of street miles on them.

ben, I've PMed you my info. if you're not interested anymore post here or reply to PM and I'll post here.
