Borla Header Blow Out

Doing a little early Summer cleaning and I found 30 WRX header and 25 2.5RS headers.....

all of these are the latest generation and carry the standard 1 million mile warantee.

2.5RS = 250 SHIPPED

WRX = 405 SHIPPED

You will not find a better price on these headers now that borla has raised their prices twice in the last 3 months!

Two questions. These are the ceramic coated ones right? And do they have an EGT bung? If not, drilling/tapping one voids the million-mile warranty correct?

they have the 02 bung and yes, these are the ceramic coated ones.

the EGT sensor goes in the uppipe and is not part of the headers..

what sort of pwr gains should I expect w/ the wrx header?

Ok guys...I have the 2.5RS header's ordered (thanx for calling me so quick Brad) for my 2002 Impreza OBS. The part numbers for the gasket's are as follows:

Manifold Gasket- (Cheap to replace, highly recommended)

44022AA020 x 2 at $9.82 EACH

Flat Gasket (Goes between end of the manifold/header y pipe or car??? other end of manifold anyway...not sure if'll I'll need it, but figured I would ask about all gasket's that hooked to the stock manifold while I'm under there)

44165FA000 x 1 at $10.27 EACH

I'm thinking about taking pictures as we install the headers for a how to section.....would anyone use a how to with pic's??? Now I'll I have to do is wait........

just note int he comments that you found it on nasioc and we'll take care of the price for you.

I'm not 100% sure on realistic power gains as we have not dynoed cars ourselves. but other have reported in the realm of 10-15 HP and approx 5-10 ft/lbs TQ. it seems reasonable though depending on other mods to the car and wether or not you're able to have it tuned for the headers.

So if I wanted to install my aftermarket EGT gauge in the same place I have it now (~3 inches from the engine) I would need to weld a bung into the headers? Would this void the warranty?

thanks for answering the question. Once again, i have a 00 impreza RS. On the website, the description said it is for 98-99 Impreza Rs. So it won't fit mine. right?

Ok guys...here is the info that may help answer some questions and to help Brad. The part number is BOR-17183 which you can locate on their website (www.borla.com) and this is exactly what the labels show for information including fitting applications.

Impreza 97-04 Coupe/Sdn/Wgn, 97-04 Legacy GT Sdn/Wgn W/O Oil Cooler, 2.2/2.5L AT/MT, Forester 2.2/2.5L MT and Dual Port Cylinder Head Only

So this will work on ALL Impreza's (except WRX and STi) from year's 1997-2004......I had to double check as this is going on my 2002 Impreza Outback Sport 2.5L. Hope this helps!!!


P.S. One thing to keep in mind, Borla's current MSRP is 353.99 plus shipping!!! Big savings here, also there site only lists this part for 1998-2003? You may want to double check with them before if you have a 97' or 04'......

The Headers work on any Natrually Aspriated motor with dual port heads. non of the newer motors have single port heads but a few in the 90s had them on the 2.2 liter motors. Other wise, it doesn't matter if it 1.8 or 2.5 liter..... it works just the same. Subaru Hasn't changed much on their car in terms of exhaust layout from then until now either, so it works from 93-current

will it void the warantee? I would imagine it would depend on how the pipe cracks or leaks. Borla is really good about warantee claims though from what I've seen. from just a bung I wouldn't be too worried.

yes you can put the probe in the same place with out a hitch though.
