Question How to adjust 4EAT Band Brake/Brake Band?

Well? A search has turned up nothing.

When I let off the gas I can feel my transmission 'lug' a bit, and the car starts to decelrate rather quickly instead of smoothly coasting down like it used to. Isn't there something on the transmission that can be adjusted to change this behavior?

Unhappy

The 4ET does not have bands, it's all clutch packs. So, no adjustments. It is also elctronically controlled, so, no adjusment. Sorry.......

Try resetting the ecu first. It may not need a mechanical adjustment, but a software adjustment. I talked to my mechanic about adjusting the brake band on the SVX when I first got it to rid it of surging on part throttle on the 2-3 shift- he said that the brake bands rarely needed adjustment though, and to adjust my driving style and not to worry about it. Well, I drove like that for a few months, and ended up disconnecting the resistor and resetting the ecu. I got the car to learn my driving style, and it seems to have worked. The car drives fine now, with no surge on the 2-3 shift, really feels like a different car. FWIW, I'll try and find the brake band adjustment specs- I remember seeing it somewhere, but the exact location escapes me right now.

Yes, the 4eat (at least up 'til) '99 has brake bands, and yes, they can be adjusted. Go here for info:

Cool

Ok,ok, I made a mistake. Note the time and date because it doesn't happen very often.

Ok, you have ONE brake band and then clutch packs.

I guess I spent too much time with the Asian-Warner 4EAT in the Supra and Jeep.....
