Didn't MRT discontinue the header for the 2.5RS?

I thought so too. But apparently they have not and it is quite possible one will be headed my way very soon.

Cool!
I'm thinking about jumping on SPO's new Borla offer (Borla's latest iteration).

I just inquired with MRT about this. They're selling the header/high flow cat/complete system for $920 AUD. This is NOT being discontinued. Ben Taylor of MRT confirmed this. And they do ship this to the US.

$920 AU is under $500 US. That's a darn good price for a complete headerback system.

Email ben@mrtrally.com.au with any other questions. I'm hoping that this system will find its way on my car soon enough. They make them normally with the single tip but they do make the Stromung-esque dual tip also.

Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. Don't expect too much for your US$500.

OK, I'm obvoiusly a goon 'cause I can't seem to find the headers anywhere on the site. The headers that I found were Turbo headers... Can anyone give me a direct link? I'm wondering if these headers terminate in the stock location, and hence would fit an aftermarket turbo kit.

Question

I'm tempted to go with Nizz on this one. $500 seems pretty low. Is a muffler included? I would like to see some HP comparisons if anyone has them. Because if it is anywhere within 3 HP or so to most other setups, than this is most definately the best deal I've ever seen.

Well, those with the setup love it.

What I think is the deal:

1) It's a universal muffler to cut back costs.
2) The piping is aluminized, as are the headers. All fabbed by MRT.
3) The exchange rate rules for our dollar. Almost 2:1!

Chuck is the guy I've heard talk about this setup. He seems to like it. I don't know where we could go wrong in enlisting an experienced tuner to make headers, high flow cats, and exhausts for the same chassis (at least) they rally...

I have the MRT full exhaust, it kicks ass. The headers are equal lenth so they don't fit with any thing but the mrt set up. But you are sure to notice a differnce in power. I also love the sound not loud but you know it is there..

When I got mine.... it was $990AUD which translated to $660US (at the time). Shipping was $275US to CT. It's a sweet system. Comes with everything.. headers to muffler... You cannot use any other brand midpipe/muffler with this system. And it's listed under Complete Sport Exhaust.

How does the full system sound in comparison to say a stromung/borla combo?

MRT says the outlet is 2". Seems a bit small, but I'm not going to purchase their exhaust because a local exhaust shop can fabricate something to work with it for less than the shipping it would cost to send theirs over.

ajday,

SPO doesn't have the new Borla header on their web site yet (if that's what you're looking for). Just call Scott (360) 254-5878.

----------
Well, I jumped in on Scott's (SPO) group-buy and bought the Borla header. They are going to meet the minimum required number of buys, at 10.

MRT's price is good, but don't forget - shipping is extra (~$300). Also, I just don't know enough about the MRT system to be comfortable purchasing them. Scott promises (backed by Borla) a no-worry warranty. If the header breaks or fails to meet the standards we expect (such as cracking welds or pipes rattling against cross-members, or whatever) a new header will be sent. Once replaced, the old header can be shipped back (the customer pays the shipping charges).

Soon (late October), Random will make available a single high-flo cat, which will replace the two, stock cats. What with the Borla header, Random cat and Rallispec's resonated cat-back exhaust, I'll have a system that I'm familiar with, and comfortable with. This system will be boss and it's is completely modular, with each sub-part replaceable with a totally stock Subaru part, if I so wish or need to. Yes, this is a more expensive route, but I will know about its performance and quality. Should any problems arise, it's nice to know I can deal with it in our own turf.

It's not much louder than stock... which is nice. I drive a lot, and a fart can turbo muffler would drive me insane. It does have a healthy low tone and grumbles nicely on starting. The loudest it gets is durring engine braking... sounds all pissed off then
