You could probably find examples of broken wheels of any brand if you looked hard enough.

If they were 'cheap' wheels, he may have crashed and burned when it broke...instead...he got into the pits and took pics. Remember, those wheels are LIGHT, too.

Like driggity said above....and also, wheels really should be considered a 'wear' item and replaced once in a while

I have SSR type C's on my Celica GTS and they have taken a lot of abuse over the last 30 thousand miles. I bent one, had it repaired and because of the machined lip it's almost imposible to tell it isn't tip-top. The repaired one BTW has lasted the last 20k with no problems. Anyone who thinks a wheel half the weight of most won't be some kind of compromise is fooling themselves. Less metal=less strong, ofcourse the metal in these is clearly of better quallity than most wheels since I've had more stout ones bend as well.
