Post just long does it take for oil to burn off? sheesh...

ever since the turbo install, and removal, i leaked some oil into the headers, and since the heat shields have some kind of material that absorbed the oil, i wouldn't know how long it'll take to get rid of it. so what do i do now? barbeque? i guess it'll have to do unless anyone else has any suggestions...thanks

Try spraying some brake clean on it. Make sure your header is cold and the engine is not running.. that stuff is alcohol so it could burn.. trust me I saw that stuff burn right across the shop floor when we were heating up some stuff with fire.. looks sweet with the flame sweeping across the floor!

IMO the heat shield don't absorb oil, what they do is trap it. They are like a clamshell that covers 180-270 degrees of the piping, and basically fluid gets in there can't escape unless it boils out.

I got a fair bit of oil and coolant inside mine during my cam install and it took a good 10-15 minutes to burn off. Not one wisp of smoke since either.
