I believe Canada only received them. We talked about this over the winter i remember. They work just like any other vehicle's heated seats; two buttons near the stick to control them.

I got heated seats in my turbo and I love them. They work great and are a duel stage heater (low and high) and they arn't bum warrmers only. They heat up the back . Yes they are controled like 90% of the seats out there. You just loose the coin holder in the cernter console. On cold winter mornings they heat up really quickly and low is just right for when my back acts up and is aking, but high gets them heated up in like 5 to 10 minutes flat. I wouldn't live w/out them now that I have them.

I think that the only down fall with this is that it is only a but warmer and the OEM has a back warmer as well.

Default Seat Heaters

Jim,

I bought a set from HeaterSeats.com and got it installed by one of their recommended installers in my state. Their product is great, as it is feels like the same thing as the seat heaters found in Luxury Automobiles for a fraction of the cost! My friends who owns a Mercedes-Benz said they couldn't feel the difference. I highly recommend installing seat heaters because they make your driving experience alot better, especially in the winter months...

Default oem seat heaters

just out of curiosity, I did a search at 1stsubaruparts.com for "heated seats" and they sell the heating elements, one for the seat and another for the backrest, plus the control switches for the baja. the switches go where that useless coin holder is by the emergency brake. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the wiring is already in place, more difficult to worry about which cars need it then just to put it in all of them I'd suspect. but that's just a guess.

so it seems like you should be able to retrofit a baja with OEM seat heaters without a lot of difficulty.

Does anyone know if the wiring is there? I'm guessing it might be, especially if it was standard equipment on Canadian Baja's....

I've dealt with Heater Seats. I think that Tabo owns the business, so his post my not be so truthful. On the surface, they look great, but the control module they come with is flawed. It doesn't turn the heat on unless the seat is already warm. What good is that?

They told me to contact a local installer. I called the installer and they have never heard of them.

I found them arogant and difficult to deal with. I suspect that they bought a few thousand of these defective heaters and are attempting to flog them about at $80/unit and they only accept payment by paypal.

They claim they have installers everywhere, but when you call one, they've never heard of heaterseats.com.

I was burned. Don't you be. This guy is a fraud.

Ok, so....not buying from heaterseats.com. Wasn't actually planning on that anyway....

Hey, anyone got a wiring schematic on the Baja? I really wanna know if it's prewired, but even if I took a peek at the wiring in the console, I wouldn't be able to tell what's what....

Since I enjoy butt warmers, this mod is on the top of my list. Either add this or possibly add a set of Recaro seats.

Here are the structural diagrams:

Can someone supply part numbers?

You can get a variety wiring diagrams (including the heated seats) from here:

http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/index.jsp

They do offer some free 2003 baja installation PDFs, how to install Sport Lights, bed cover, trailer hitch, etc.

they charge for access to the wiring manuals....I'd rather hunt the swap meets for a hard copy....

For me, I think the $19.00/72hr period is worth it. A hard copy would be nice but the PDFs are printable and reprintable if the paper gets damaged.
