Subaru Stars The results are in....

Well folks,

Paul has returned from Toronto. After a hard fought "battle" Paul ended up in second place!!! It took the judges an hour and a half to decide the winner (usually it is a cut and dried affair). Paul was so very close to becoming Grand Master, but will have to settle for Master Technician of The Year!!

Of the 13 highly qualified competitors, only 3 (one of which was Paul) were able to get their cars running. One of the most difficult competitions Subaru has ever held.

Paul will try again to earn Grand Master status in two years time, as he must sit next year out.

Are you serious?

Of all the Subaru dealerships in Calgary which one would you suggest I take the STi into for oil changes and other minor stuff.

Centaur is not much better, I guess oil changes are fine but anything serious does not seem to get fixed. Clutch shudder back AGAIN, still have not fixed a mysterious grinding problem that comes from my front left side when the car is cold (which started when they put in the new clutch that has NO shuddering). This is after they had my car for a WEEK and pretty much changed the transmission which I think was fine before. Sorry it's Monday

Paul,

I very hearty congratulations to you. You've proven that you're a "Master" to us here in E-Town many times.

"Master Technician of the Year" is nothing to slouch at and we wish you well in future years.

Cheers,
MB

SUBARU TECHNICIANS COMPETE FOR TITLE OF MASTER TECHNICIAN
June 28, 2004

Contact: Elaine Griffin (905) 568-4959

Norio Osakabe, president, chairman and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce that Samuel Lecomte of Option Subaru in Québec City has won the 2004 Subaru Master Technician competition. Lecomte competed against 12 other top technicians from Subaru dealerships across Canada to claim the title of "Technician of the Year" in the trouble-shooting competition held at SCI headquarters in Mississauga.

Lecomte was the most successful in finding and repairing a number of pre-set malfunctions on a 2004 Impreza Outback Sport within the allotted time. In addition, judges award points based on workmanship, speed, accuracy, neatness, and safety practices. After the competition, Lecomte was honoured by Subaru executives and his fellow competitors at an awards banquet on Saturday evening.

"On behalf of everyone at Subaru, I would like to congratulate Samuel, and all the contestants who have worked so hard to prove themselves the best in Canada," said Norio Osakabe, president, chairman and CEO of Subaru Canada. "The speed, accuracy and skill with which our technicians provide service to customers are crucial to Subaru's reputation as a manufacturer. No one works harder than our outstanding technicians to achieve the highest standards of excellence."

Photographs of Lecomte and all the finalists in the 2004 Master Technician Competition are available - please contact Elaine Griffin, Manager, Public Relations, for more information.
