Default Subaru WRX power to take on 25 Hours of Thunderhill

Hi All -

New to the world of Subarus, but recently got involved in a pretty neat project.

We'll be working to put together teams to run in the 25 hours of Thunderhill using this new car from Saker - using Subaru WRX turbo engines:

Saker Motorsports

Looks like we'll be running at least 2 cars. The driver line up for one car features Ralph Warren, Scott Lang and Mickey Miller (all 2003 Speed WC Touring drivers):

We all know it's a great powerplant, but what were the attributes that led you to choose the WRX engine?

The car was designed and developed in New Zealand / Australia, so that may have had a big part in using a Japanese engine over a european engine. But power/size, configuration (opposed cylinders) for lower engine height and reliability were all factors.

For the 25 Hour event, at least one car will be running a 350-375 hp engine package (probably with Motec management).

The base model car (shows 250 hp on the site) will actually increase to about 300 hp when they go from the EJ20 to the B4.

Thanks - should be quite an effort. The Saker team will be coming out from the facility in Tenn. to provide spares and engineering support for all of their cars at the event.

Hope to be able to make some announcements soon - we're working to secure some corporate level sponsors and some very high profile drivers for that driver team.

Hi All -

Just an update - right now we're working on the sponsor packages for the cars - we've decided to concentrate on 2 cars for the event. As soon as they get confirmed, I'll announce them.

One piece of good news - I have confirmed with Jeremy, the head tech guy at SCCA that the Saker is Homologated for SCCA ASR under paragraph A.1.b (SCSR page 8), which is a regional only class, but very cool none the less.
