Default one touch up/down windows- how to convert to?

i'm moving from an audi to an STi... but i can't bear the thought of HOLDING the window buttons... feels so 1982-ish.

i know the driver's window is one touch down, but how do i make it one-touch up, too?

and what about the ohter 3 windows?

tia

you know I'm trying to figure that out as I type this. I've been pondering this for quite some time now. I'll let you know.

DEI makes a module 530T that hooks up to an after market alarm.
There is also a module for all four windows. I am not certain as to wether it can be tied to an OEM alarm . It requires two wires from an alarm, a ground when armed wire and a auxiliary output wire. I do not know enough about the OEM alarm to know if these wires are available.

Here is a link to a site where I did a write up on it.
Will give you some idea of what's involved. Since I did it myself I would have no idea on how much a professional installer would charge.

are there any other subaru models with the automatic up down windows? maybe the legacy of forester? I am thinking it would be possible to take the switches off of another car and adapt them to our cars....

This is slightly off topic, but does anyone know if there is a way to remove the limiters for the rear windows so they go down all the way?

Same here. I looked at the elec. diagram and it does mention that the drivers window is indeed auto up/down, but mine does not seem to work that way- only auto down. Auto up would be pretty nice to have.

Good question that I would be interested too. I believe its so that kids don't climb out or something, but since I'm 18 I won't really have that problem in the near future.

You can't make the rear windows go down any further, the limiting factor is the shape of the door. The fenderwell cutout is where the window would end up if it went down any further.
The auto-up function does not appear in USDM cars, apparently it does in other markets. The wiring diagram seems to reflect this.

Buy a longer car with full sized back doors
Or cut the bottom of the door out so the glass can go into the fender

I'm getting ready for a pair of 530Ts in the wagon. I had them in my accord along with a 529t for the sunroof. 530T is two windows in two directions so you'll need two. 529T is one window two directions. The install is pretty straight forward. You need to find the two wires for each window motor(best to gest them right at the motor in case of any upstream electronics, through with the rex I think the drivers switch panel is the central control). Another tip if you're so inclined is to add a pair of spst momentary switches somewhere in the car that you can get to, wire one to the orange wire and one to the red/white wire of the modules, with one tap of one button all 4 windows go down, with a tap of the other button all 4 windows go up. Beware though, if you don't put a relay inline with these to the ignition you'll be able to use them with the key off as well.
