Post domestic AT tranny on impreza?

this must have been done before. I would rather go this route if possible. Any ideas?

Uhhh .. you mean JDM? Should be a bolt-on, and if you get a late-model WRX you can get the ultra-cool VTD AWD system (able to bias rear axle).

Then again you could just wait a bit and order the replacement U.S. WRX part ... might need a different driveshaft but that would be about it.

In theory you can attach a domestic transmission to your flat-4 cylinder engine. But kiss your AWD goodbye.

And if you are going to be stuck with RWD, there are much better platforms than the Impreza to use. Imnpreza is good, Impreza is nice, but if I wanted a 4-cylinder RWD I would have gotten a 240SX or Miata.
