Question Possible to use front AND top intercoolers?

Heya folx-

I asked a long time ago about the possibilities of using an intercooler on a N/A car (just to have cooler air) and there were no gains to be had. More probably, even losses.

So to take this a setp further, assmuning one has a T/C (or a S/C), AND is running an intercooler, would there be any gains to adding a second intercooler? Say one in front and one on top, the top being fed by the front one.

I know a lot of piping would be needed, but would it be worth it for any additional gains?

Adding a second intercooler may also allow for more "quick air" available that has already been pressurized (ie thinking about the "plenum box" that seems to bring back low end performance).

Has anyone looked into this?

I swear this was disscussed a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't find anything with a search. From what I remember, there would be too much lag, and you would also loss psi since there was so much more tubing that had to be pressurized.

Ahh...I tired searching for "front and top mount i/c", not "under hood".

The only possible reason to do this would be for packaging. IE you couldn't fit a big enough intercooler in either spot.

I still say you should just run some piping out the hood scoop to a big 3x5ft roof mounted intercoooler with a WRC spoiler mounted on top.
