Default noob with a dumb ?

what do the following consist of?

stage 1

stage 2

stage 3

stage 4

stage 5

is 1 an intake and tbe? 2- the same as 1 with more........and so on and so on. I just want to know what the mods are to each stage so when I am reading posts, I have an idea of what mods the person has. Thanks for any help.

They stand for nothing.
Stage one can be anything.
A company just calls there starting packages stage 1 or 0 and build form their.

Thats why if you hear someone randomly saying they have a stage 4 on their civic, they are likly full of **** unless they tell you which companies stage 4.

hey man, these guys are mostly numbnutz... here's the real skinny:

the "stages" are going to be specific to whichever manufacturer/tuner/vendor you are buying parts from.

For instance, TurboXS's stage2 for the WRX is nothing more than a turboback exhaust, engine computer, and k&n filter.

Stage2 for WRX from vishnu is turboback exhaust, uppipe, IC hoses, computer, big turbo, fuel pump, injectors....

With the STI's, the vendors are so far kind of sticking to a little more uniform naming.

With most STI stage 1 kits you could expect a turboback exhaust and a computer. Stage 2 would add in some other things like perhaps an intake or a bigger turbo.... Don't get hung up on which "Stage" you are using. Look more at the individual parts in each stage and what you're paying for them vs what you'll get out of them.

Yeah...you guys do kinda suck.

The "stages" are also USUALLY done in groupings that need to be done at the same time ie: turbo/injectors/FP/EM.

But really unless you have some sort of engine management MOST would recommend to stick with a TBE as the only safe and meaningful upgrade.

i think the general population of subie owners revert back to the turboxs definitions of "stages" when talking about their cars. its actually more detailed than the vishnu one.

so basically my understanding of stages is this:

bpu = tbe and/or intake and/or mbc
stage1 = EM
stage2 = EM + tbe
stage3 = EM + tbe + new intercooler
stage4 = EM + tbe + new intercooler + bigger turbo & injectors

i consider my car a stage4 STi...not to sound cool, since i dont think ive ever told someone my car was a "stage4 STi," but just for the simple fact that i think it better sums up what i have in the car.

when someone says STAGE 4 and i dont know which brand theyre talkin about i figure theyre just some ricer talkin lies <not saying youre one at all>

jus ttell em u got a lot into it and get a laminated time slip and throw it in their face

vishnu stage 1 for STi.
3 inch turboback, with one hi flow cat. and a exede ecu.
