Post What size Magnecor wires?

Hey guys,
I am going to get a set of magnecor wires for my car. I want to get the 8mm(mainly because they're blue), but I don't know if that is too big or not. And also if I got those wires would I have to get bigger plugs?
THanks
Steve

Hey stevie, bigger wires doesnt mean bigger plugs. bigger wires means Less resistance, so you have less of a restriction. the 8.8s and/or 9mm are just extra insulation, or so ive been told.

measure the OE wires, i belive they are 8mm, most are. that means you can use the stock wire looms and clips. anything bigger, you might not be able to take advantage of those nicely placed and organized clips.

i found that out the HARD way when i put some Accel 8.8 Superstocks on my Other TA. they look DAMN good, but not as great an install as OE.

I called magnecor about their wires. I was told that the 8.5KV is perfect for street/strip/racing (if you have to ask, get the 8.5). I was told the 10mm wires are for very hot engines/engine bays. And the CN wires are only if you get a lot of interference from the wires (like in older cars). He told me anything more than the 8.5KV was a waste of my money, but they would sell em to me if I wanted.
I didn't ask them about the 8mm, cause I was looking for new wires for my stang and the time, and it was nicely modded.

thats true, you don't need the 10mm its a waste, just more insulation. I have the 8.5 and they work great

Magnecors? Who's got 'em for us? I have a '98 Legacy GT. I used a set with my Probe GT and really dug 'em.

I put a set 8.5kv on my 93 sl2, absolutely no improvement. the car had exhaust and intake mods. however, I got more than 20K miles with them, I only got about 10K miles on the stock ones. I probably would have gotten more miles on the magnecors, but car gone. got much better car now. so don't expect to get an improvement just from wires in a modern car.

They are excellent quality wires. They have a lifetime warrantee. If they ever go bad they will replace them free. To me it was more of a PM thing not a performance one. I've had OEM wires go bad in other cars at 40K.

Yeah they are not going to improve anything much except for reliability and looks. The set I got for my 2000 are a little longer than the stockers. I believe thats normal, because you don't see the slack unless you are installing it yourself.
