I have one.
It's a device (that looks like it's home made and it shouldn't cost that much) that cuts into your acceleration wire and supposedly makes some changes. it has a on/off button, but it doesn't work for me. it kills my speedometer (which is not such a bad thing), but my car acts ****Y if I do that. it sets a rev limit around 4500 RPMs and it's lacking power, etc. etc. etc. Would I recommend it... not really. Imprezer, Sev - you seen the device, would you buy something like this? Your guinea pig [This message has been edited by Stranger (edited November 02, 2000).] |

Stranger,
That's strange. When the torque chip is installed correctly, it add fuel to the fuel curve, disables the ignition retard seen with multiple hard launches, and kills the 112mph top speed limiter on the Impreza L models. Larry |

I have nothing bad to say about the chip other than suffering gas mileage. That's because I keep my foot in it ('cuz it's so d@mn fun!) At 6000 ft elevation, I can floor it in fourth at 70mph and reach 100mph in about 6 seconds. I haven't tested fifth because I need a longer flat area for it. These are also the speeds at which my intake is supposed to be making power. The upper ranges of fifth should prove very interesting if it doesn't lose much power compared to fourth. I doubt I'll peg the rev limiter, but it was missing fuel on the top end anyway. Fourth is quick, but it's not a turbo car laughing at 65mph. I'm drooling over that ball bearing IHI. I'd give up an N/A build for 300 BOLT ON horsepower. I see the appeal . Time will tell.
