Default 04' STi exhaust on 01' RS???

Does anyone know if the catback portion of the 04' STi exhaust will bolt right on to an 01' RS. Im interested in buying this exhaust if it requires no modification. I know I've seen pictures of it in the Impreza RS gallery. Thanks, any help appreciated.

No, it will not. You will have to have the cat-to-midpipe flange cut off, rotated and rewelded to fit.

ya it would take osme custom work but nothing an exhaust shop couldn't do for a modest fee.

and the midpipe made longer, considering the sti has a turbo which means it has a downpipe to reach the midpipe(reason its shorter)

The Muffler would fit just fine, but it has to have the exhaust hanger moved from facing right to facing left. The midpipe it not the same and needs custom work done.

I don't know if you are speaking from experience, but when I did my custom setup I had to shorten the wrx midpipe a little bit.

Check out my thread. All you would have to do is have the flange rotated and the midpipe hanger chopped off. An exhaust shop wouldn't charge you very much to do this (Maybe 30 bucks).

A WRX midpipe, after cutting and welding the flange and a flare section was the same length as my TS midpipe. I don't think one is longer, though i might have missed something...

maybe when you put the new flange on the added material made it longer?

or did you just rotate the stock flange?
