Default How accurate are the "noise" ratings on Tirerack?

Reason why i ask is because after reading some of the reviews, people tend to have vary opinions on certain characteristics of some tires like the noise rating. I'm looking for a quiet 225/45/17 tire. Most people on here reccomend the conticontactextreme's but the reviews on there say that they're really loud. Same thing with the Yokohama AVS DB2's. I know road noise will vary due to size differences, but for a 17 in tire, which one is more quiet? or better yet, is there a tire out there that is even quieter than these two? thanks for your help.

All the Tire Rack ratings are subjective. there is no objective blind testing in the consumer section. So, what is reasonable to you is REALLY LOUD to someone else. Let the buyer beware!

Yeah thats what i figured.....I've heard the DB2's were pretty good, but after a few thousand miles it starts getting loud. I'm riding on some RE070's right now from stock STi wheels. I might want to ride the wheels through the winter so thats why i need a nice quiet all season tire.
