It was tested in SCC that for N/A, the Stromung Dual tip gave the most HP gain. I think like 5-6 HP.

My butt-dyno didn't register any increase with my Stromung dual tip. Sure sounds (and looks) nice though!

Bah, SCC didn't test more then 2-3 exhausts. There are at least 6-7 out there, not counting custom jobs.

I seriously think that my 5Zigen exhaust has to be one of the best power-wise.
First off, it's angle mounted to prevent that last bend in the exhaust. Second off, it was MADE for our car and researched/produced by 5Zigen of Japan. Third off, the inside piping is 2.4" making me think that it is the best compromise between losing power (didn't register any power loss with it) and gaining top end power (definitely there). But that's just my opinion. |

I believe everyone's muffler will give you the most hp/torque. Why? Because opinions differ, and each and every car is different. So you will not get a straight answer from some "tuning god".
That being said, I have a Blitz system. Love it. ![]() |

like Keiho said, everyone's butt-dyno is different, so unless you get all 6-7 catback systems together and test them using the same car with no other mods, you are not gonna get a straight answer
that said, since you dont care about money or noise, go with whichever has the sound that pleases you the most btw, was that you who posted the video of the Blitz some time ago, Keiho? love the sound ![]() |

Yup, that was me with the videos of my Blitz and Orbiter's Apex'i.
I've yet to go do that again. Was rather fun...hehe...just a pity I don't have the digital camcorder anymore. |

yeah just because the systems are made just for the impreza doesnt mean its the best. Id go with an Apexi N1 or a HKS hiper those i think are the best bang for buck. If your getting an N1 dont buy the catback system get the universal and get a custom midpipe made save some $. |

There was a post not too long ago about which Stromung gave more HP, and the Dual Tip gave like .3 more HP
I really like my Stromung Dual Tip + midpipe...I've only had it on for like a full 24 hours now, but the sound is fun As for Butt Dyno? I'm still feeling..no ECU reset yet, and may not bother heh.. |

MRT Header>Mid-pipe>Exhaust. Do a search in Powertrain for Dyno results! Search in Vendor Classifieds for more info and pictures. I'm selling mine from the CTC GB. It is mild steel with dual tip. It cost $420 plus shipping. It is due to arrive at CTC in a couple of weeks. Then ship to those who ordered. Buying a WRX.

exhaust isn't going to be all that much of a big deal for N/A power. You are better off getting an intake or cams if you are looking for real power. You can get the cobb intake for 250 (much less than most exhausts around here) and will increase HP/Torque more than an exhaust would do. Exhaust (IMHO) is best for personalizing your car. The exhaust notes that you hit with the various mufflers for our cars are just awesome. I personally have the new borla headers with a stromung midpipe and Blitz Nurspec (the one Keiho has) and LOVE it. The sound just plain kicks major ass. You get a nice boxer tone mixed with a V8 sound for icing on the cake.
Just note, becareful with whatever setup you get because you always have to think about if cops will pull you over or not. |

I went w/ a universal muffler and a custom mid-pipe. It's true, you don't feel much and it's more for personalizing your car as Andrew said. One thing's for sure, unless you've got an STi muffler (from what I've heard from other board members), you're gonna have a loud exhaust. My RS can set off alarms just creeping through the mall garage (I've got an auto so I don't even have to press the gas). Once you get your exhaust, drive it around for a week or two. If it's too loud, get a resonator. Good luck and enjoy.
