Someone had posted that they had installed a 00/01 knock sensor on a MY99 to get rid of our hesitation problem. (i forgot who)

Has anyone elts tried this yet, did it work, would/could more peolpe try it.

Never know with enough sugsessfull testing maybe we could open SOA'z eyes a little bit.

Any opinions/thoughts/questions/expierences will be welcome

I've got no hesitation problem with my 99.

You might want to take a ride with a dealer, or someone with an OBDII scan tool, to see if there is knock sensor activity before attempting to reduce its effectiveness.

Would someone who HAS the hesitation problem like to comment on this subject.

No offence ColinL but i have had my car in AT LEAST 5 times about this.
Subaru don't know what to do, if it doesn't KILL people the don't really give 2 *****s either.

Hi there,

I have come across, over sensitive and faulty knock sensors.. that register "knock" even when it is not happening.

Perhaps yours is over sensitive or faulty ?

See if you can try someone elses... who isnt having any problems.

Actually, I think they had a 97 or 98. Those were the MY's affected in the TSB. I believe later model hesitation isn't as severe. I've been living with the hesitation because the ECU reset has worked for me. Up until now.
Anyone know which warranty the knock sensor is covered under (BtoB or powertrain?)?

Knock sensor = part of engine = part of powertrain

Thanks, Colin.
The reason I was asking is because I've already brought it up with my current dealer. The only thing they found was a loose vacuum hose. After my last oil change it happened again. I recently switched to another dealer that knows a lot more about Subes in general. Not that you wanted that entire story anyway.
