Default Whats a GL-10 T like in the snow?

I'm looking for a temporary 4 door car until I can afford a Legacy GT.

I've narrowed it down to a GL-10 Turbo, depending on how many miles it has. or a 1998 Forester. I've driven a Forester in the snow before and must admit it is great. But what is a GL-10 like?

Depends on which trans it has.

My first one was FWD auto.. not so great.

My current one was 4wd auto.. better.
THen it was Part time 4WD 5 speed. even better.
Now its FT4WD 5 speed(AWD) with a locking center diff and rear LSD.. Doesn't get much better than that.

Be careful of letting the turbo spool up in the snow though

they are not speed demon by any means but the old dual rangers kick ass with a set of nokia hakapulita 10, or blizzacks would work too....

the gl-10 is basically the same car as any ea82, but more options.
a lot of the ones i see are turbo, with rear disc brakes. rear disc is excellent in snow, turbo breathes good, automatic ok.

we have dual range conversions from 2wd, we go in the WOODS down ATV tails no problem. 2wd auto DL kept up rather well

disc brakes can be swapped onto a non turbo, and autos can be converted to stick, and 2wd can be converted to 4wd. done it several ways myslef....

here is the atv trails, the rx is stuck, the wagon got too close and is stuck. but thay all made it out under their own power. theay all would have been NOT stuck if we didnt mind it being a demolition derby at the same time. everyone on top of eachother!

well the rx is dual range turbo, the wagon is 4wd dual range, the sedan has been converted from 2wd auto to 4wd 5spd dual range

here is a gl-10 wagon i did up. yes, thats a hoodscoop. the car now has the RX motor and full time dual range trans, lsd rear diff, and xt6 5-lug suspension/wheels. i traded it for the rx body, which has carb and dual range 4wd

We used to have a GL wagon and it was pretty decent in the snow. We had the button for 4wd on the shifter.

this car was originally pushbutton 4wd. but i swapped in a full time tranny from an xt6, kept the shifter. now the button works the diff lock, same mechjanism, which essentially maked the full time tranny act like a part time 4wd when engaged
