225/40/18 is the correct size.

If you have a sedan, you definitely won't have rubbing issues.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I also have question about rims, tires and rubbing issues.

I'm from France and we are lucky to have 17x7 ET55 OEM wheels, know as Euro or UK.

I'm lowered with Tein Flex pretty low.

I'm on the market for 17x7.5 or 17x8 and yould like to go with 235/40 because the Inspection Office do not allow 225 !

Do you think I will have rubbing issues ?

What's the best for me ? 7"5 or 8"

I apologize for my bad grammatical and spelling.

Thanks Guys.

17x8 et48 with 235 40 17 will work fine with no rubbing.

I've got Rota Sub Zero's wheels and Bridgestone S03 225/40R18 tires. Also I've got Eibach springs on the car so it is lowered a bit and never had an issue of rubbing in 20k miles.
