Default Largest wheel u can put on STI???

I know of the differences in the BP on the 2004/2005 cars, and the width difference.

But I am considering having a set of 19" HRE wheels built and I am curious what is the largest 19's and what size tires anyone has run?

i am certain i can run a 19x8 with a 1" outter, but id like to build a 19x8 or 19x8.5 with a 1.5 inch outter.

Thinking a 235/35-19 on the 8, or 245/35-18 on the 8.5

can i have some input?

thanks again.

Honestly talk to HRE..... they can/will make whatever they can just let them know what you want. Being as all HRE's are fully custom and built for each persons needs/wants. Must be nice to be able to drop like 6k minimum on wheels.

Well, I have built 4 sets of HRE;s before...but solely for German cars...

I had a shop before, now when im not racing in ALMS I still build project cars.... I dont pay retail for the wheels, so it's not a huge deal.

HRE usually asks me for some advice on fitments they do not already have.... I usually like to push the limits of how wide I can go.

So...again...i was curious what are the largest fitments people have run?

You wont find too many people on here with 19s. People are running 17x8.5's with 245 series tires... maybe even a few 255's. Thats the widest I have heard without widened fenders.

They're 3 piece modular right? I would measure & try, I am assuming from your description that you wouldn't have a problem switching/exchanging inner or outer wheel sections if you had a fit issue.

But yes, 8.5" so far is the widest I have heard of anyone using. With some mild fender modification (rolling, liner massaging, etc.) you might get a 9" to fit (especially with the ability to select just the right offset).

I've got a bit of info on the subject. Luke@Tirerack might be able to help more.

On my car I put on 18x8.5" rims with 235/40-18's. Take the number with a grain of salt though because they are a wide 235 (Bridgestone S-03's). I had to roll the rear fenders just a bit to stop them from rubbing. I'd say a 245 or a 255 with correct fitment on the width of the rim is max.

There are people that have fit 255, even 275, but they are cramming them onto a 7.5 or 8" wheel so the width is not true.

I know that Luke had fit an STi with a set of 19" wheels, I just don't remember what kind.

I'd imagine with the right offset and some lip massaging you could squeeze a 255, maybe a 265. Though that a 265 might be rubbing against the strut body. I'd love to hear what you come up with though

ESX has 19's on one of their WRX's, the blue one that was in Turbo Mag.

yeah,

i am thinking of a 19x8 with a 235/35-18....

custom offset, we are calculating now, but some info is helpful...

a 245/35 on 8.5 would be my choice.

i currently have 275's the whole way around on my s4...with a 9.5...because of my fender flares....

but oh well, thanks for the info

Hey,

235/35-19 on a 19x8" would be a peice of cake. I would suggest a +45mm or +48mm offset. The 245 and 8.5" is doable too.

I run a 17x9" in the front with a 255/40-17, with a 17x8.5" and 255/40-17 in the rear, but have suspension modifications to create more room.

19's on a wrx =

In my opinion on the wrx/sti anything over 17" just doesnt look right mainly because the car isnt long like other sedans..

Since money isnt a issue (having HRE build you wheels) i would do a true widebody or flair the wheel wells and do a 17" wheel but a wide one with a huge lip.. That would look sweet, Almost resemble a touring car.

Anyways, When u get your Sti i wouldnt mind running u if your cool with that. I wanna see how my car holds up to the Sti, I know from a dead dig you'll waste me pretty good. But i wanna see about on a roll if u dont mind..

I drive one of those neons

Hey, are you still driving the Dyson Lola? I saw the #16 & #20 cars at Lime Rock.
