Thank you. Been looking to do this for quite some time, but no idea which core works with the WRX and fittings and such work with the WRX.

How far down does that cooler go below the bumper? I want an oil cooler but I have a DR500 FMIC and its flush against the bottom of that bumper.. Also.. can you link to where you purchased the kit and the price.

Yea that is my problem Clark.. I wanted to get the STI one that is on the s202 but its not going to happen unless i mount it in an alternate location.. I doubt i will spend the money on that one but this one looks interesting.. Can you get it without their name sprayed on it?

You can mount it behind the grille man just like mrubino's is.

It does not have to go where our FMIC is.

Do you have rubber washers where you mounted the cooler? It would help dampen vibrations to the core.

Cooler dimensions you can find just about any configuration, some are more expensive than others though. Just for a starting point:

www.bakerprecision.com has a ton of different Setrab coolers
www.batinc.net has a ton of Mocal adapters and coolers
www.racerpartswholesale.com has the best price on Aeroquip AQP hose, and some Mocal adapters

True you can find a lot of differant cores available. This one uses a Setrab core

hey clark, here's how i have mine set up, it might clear your fmic.

it's only two row, but is very long, pretty much end to end of the grill, here's a pic, if you look closely behind the grill, you can see the second row sits pretty high up

hope one of those works

if not, it's essentially a two row oil cooler made by perma-cool. the rest of the system, i pieced together. the bottom goes as low as where the grill meets the bumper, so hopefully, that should clear your fmic

FWIW

Whoever pays over $1000 for an oil cooler is crazy!! Those cores at most are a few hundred, at most. The fittings are the most expensive part, you'll probably drop a few hundred on lines and fittings. At most I could see spending $500 or so for a good setup.
Check your local domestic hotrod shop for lines and fittings, there usually much cheaper than those prices online. A hydraulic shop carries this stuff too, one near me sells XRP for half of what the aeroquip stuff costs, its the same thing.

You said it dropped temps by 40 degrees? What is it running at now? You dont want oil too cool. Nice setup though, are u using a thermostat to bring it up to temp faster? Did you retain the factory cooler as well?
