Since the USMB is temporarily down, i thought I'd ask here.
Was it you that was talking about some sort of Castrol gear oil for transaxles? What's it called? Where do I get it?
Thanks

Speaking of gear oil....i just changed out my engine oil....form mobil 1 10w30 syn....to....you guessed it, mobil 1 10w30 syn.

Back to the gear oil....while i did that...i also drained the 75-90 gear oil from the trans....and replaced it with Mobil 1 15w50 syn....just to see what happens. I call it "The Great Gear Oil Experiment" (TGGOE) Ive been wanting to do it for a while.

We shall see what happens....

I'd be more willing to try random fluids except for the ring and pinion in there.

I'd like to fill it up with ATF and see what that feels like.

Better than my tranny only being 8500 away from 300K

I changed the fluid (from grey poupon looking stuff!!) to 80W90 (generic junk) and its shifted good since.

Probably gonna change it again right at 300K along with the rear diff

Probably gonna try some redline

Someone mentioned something like Castrol TFX or something. I can't find the thread.

Castrol TAF-X. Only sold in Europe, has a US equivalent, and cross-references to a GM p/n. So I ordered some from a GM parts supplier. I'll post when I put it in, and if i see a difference.
