as a line, the T1S is probably the lightest max performance tire, although in certain sizes some other tires may be slightly lower in weight - but it's a matter of ounces

tire weights are available from:
Toyo
Kumho
Bridgestone
Edge Racing
Tread Depot
posts from Luke@Tire Rack and others on this board

other light max performance tires include the Michelin Pilot Sport and PS2, Pirelli Pzero Nero summer, and Dunlop SP9000

as far as performance goes, the T1S was or matched or beaten in a number of performance categories by tires that ranged from 1 to 5 lbs heavier in this test:

grip is what is important with a tire, and tire weight is simply one of many factors that affect overall performance. to focus on it to the exclusion of all else would be a mistake in my opinion

IMO, the best light, DRY tires are the Kumho MX's....they don't suck in the wet....just not great...but dry....

I second that. The Kumho MX are the best tires in the dry @ its price range. Sticky Sticky.

I am running MX too, I recommend them also. But from my research the T1-S offer slightly better grip and are definetely lighter. But the T1-s are more expensive and harder to find.

The T1-S may be better in the rain/wet than the MX's...but NOT dry....I don't think so.....
