Post My engine makes minor "popping" noises

Hello, I have a stock engine, but recently I have been noticing popping sounds that are coming from inside my motor? The noises are not loud but you can especially hear it during cold warm-ups. Does the belts have anything to do with it, let say the timing belt? Thanks

Talking

Modern-day Subaru motors are known for their valvetrain noise. It is pretty normal - as a matter of fact, when I first got my 2.5RS (in 99), I noticed the ticking noise during warmup after a couple months, and now it does it all the time, even when warm. Doesn't sound bad...

If it's the noise I am thinking of, then it's just valve lash...

like he said it probably is valve lash..or it may be the belts and tensioners...

without hearing it is hard to tell..but good chance of the first one..how many miles on the motor/belts, etc?
