OMG..U got Beat by a BAJA

Question Fit 5 in a BAjA ?

Hello all!

Just got my '05 Turbo Baja about a 2 weeks ago and have been loving it since the test drive.

I especially love the looks on peoples faces when I zoom past them on an uphill and when I come to a stoplight I notice a lot more admiring looks from drivers and passers-by than when I was roaring around in my tricked civic.

Before I purchased my BjT I was looking for info on trucks..namely smaller trucks...something 4wd..sporty..and could fit 5.

Many prospects came to mind but then I remebered seeing a unique truck 4 months back while cruising in San Francisco...BAM! I was hooked.

Did some more research online and found my BjT

It had everything I wanted in my next vehicle except 1 item.

Seating for three across the Backseat.

Now that I've bought and am enjoying my Baja.. I would love to expand it capabilities by seating 5 adults.

I am thinking of swapping out the rear bottom seatbench for an outback/legacy seatbench and adding on the center seatbelts of same.

Does anyone know if the Legacy (platform on which baja and outback are based) rear seat will fit with current rear brackets or will i need to make new?

Or, does anyone have any other ideas to make 3 adults seat back there?

Just putting a small throw pillow over the rear center compartment isnt going to cut it anymore and I'd hate to break the lid or have someone fly forward in case of an emergency stop.

Ive been stalking around these forums before and since ive bought my Subie ...and I must say you peeps rock!

Thanks for any help and sorry for the long post......It's my first

I've been watching all those car shows on tv lately. Tuner Transformation, Pimp My Ride, CHop Cut Rebuild, ect. I believe anything is possible. I doubt anyone has attempted the backseat conversion yet, but it sounds simple enough to try. The difference would be that a Legacy bottom doesn't fold forward like the Baja does. If you wanted to retain that feature you might have to hack off the floor mounts of the Legacy bottom, and steal the hinge from the Baja.

Or, just steal the foam bottom from the legacy and put it on the Baja bottom frame. More hog rings and draw ties might be necessary. I bet a local sewing shop could even adapt your Baja bottom cover (center section material added) to fit the Legacy foam for less than 100 bucks. Call your dealer and ask them how much for a new(00-04) Legacy sedan rear seat bottom cushion is. I bet they are less than 200.

Used to have an OBS (Imp wagon), and the back seat did fold forward. I'm probably wrong, but the withds of the Baja back seat is not much different from that of Impreza (sad). You can probably find some at the local junk yard for like 20 bucks.

hehe.

ooh ill check that out too hatake.

thnx jimtesla..but i think strapping three friends across the roof rack would be over the roof's weight limit. and besides theyd would wiggle around so much it would be hard to strap them down porperly .....

thnx for the info guys...keep it coming

That Chile site is incorrect. They show many images of the new Outback in the Baja section.
