Question Ski racks on the Impreza = OK?

Hey everyone, I posted this thread
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=593373 in the exterior section of the forum, but got no help. I figured someone in the "rocky mountains" might be able to answer my questions. Thanks in advance for helping out this newbie!

yes, you can safely put a roof rack on the Impreza without any problems.

I figured you can, it's just the whole glass/no-window frame issue. Thanks for the reassurance!!!

If the car is a 2 door than you need the extender kit. I used to haul over 100 lbs on the roof of my 2 door RS. It's true that the mounting looks sketchy without anything to really grab, but I never had a problem.

Good another vote of confidence!! Thanks jid2. Much appreciated!!

So how does it mount then? Do you pull the seal from the body framing and latch the rack to the frame and run the seal back over the latch?

There is a black plastic edge around the seal of the window, on the actual door frame area of the roof. It is the most outter part of the window seal. It's only a couple mm thick but that's what the rack clips grap. Just head to REI and they will show you everything. It gets expensive though.

I found that there were little scratches where the roof rack met the car. Not talking about the binders. Also, little scratches where the ferring part met the car.
