Okay, I've lost the key for my wheel locks. I'm the second owner, so I'm not sure where the wheel locks were purchased, or who the manufacturer is. Any suggestions for getting the locks off? I don't care if i ruin them in the process, since i'll have to get new ones anyway. But, i'd like to go out and get them off so i can rotate my tires.
Snap-On, Mac, etc. have special tools just for this purpose. A good tire shop, repair shop, or even a body shop should have them and be able to help you out.
They usually have a tool that crimps onto lug nuts so long as they are not hollow. It probably ruins the nut. They might ask that you buy a new set of locks from them for their trouble though.
i had the unfortunate honor of having this problem too
when i took it to a tire shop, they said that they couldnt guarantee or warned me to start with that there would be scratches to the rims ... i was cringing at the prospect - luckily there were alternatives
