Lightbulb idea: Ultimate N/A intake

I was thinking about building a custom intake that will look like an M from the front of the RS. It will consist of three filters. A Cross to fit a 2 1/2" hose on all sides. The crosspipe will be connected to the throttle body, the first intake inlet will place the filter in back of the throttle body, just like the Primm Motorsports intake. The two other intake inlets will swing around on both sides of the engine and the filter will be placed underneath the vents. Scoops will have to be placed to direct air down the hood and onto the filter. You may even be able to angle the two side intake pipes to stick out of the hood thru the vents...the filters will be up out of the hood. The windshield washer fluid reservoir will have to be removed and and battery will be relocated to the trunk...good idea to move the battery there anyway. I am thinking that the different intake paths will allow for maxiumum volume of air at throughout the entire RPM range. I will continue to work on this and want to share this idea with the club for criticism.

Brucelee, cut two holes on the sides of the box and run two j-shaped pipes down the sides like the WeaponR and see if you get more power. Do it clean and make it sturdy.

Just do what I did to my 2000! Throw a K&N in the plenum box, and take EVERYTHING else out. Open hood scoop. Great sound, nice and cool under there, no water gets in, no lower end lost, best as my butt can tell.

I don't see how you will lose any more air out of the filter than I do right now with my WeaponR intake. And even if you do lose more air out the other potential exits...wouldn't the amount of air being sucked in far outweigh any increase in exiting oxygen. After all, the main source of vacuum is the only source of vacuum, the Throttle Body. And with a bigger throttle you can get most of the extra air to enter the intake manifold. A little Extrude Hone on the intake...

North Ursalia,

Your solution sounds great but loses power up top. Stock top speed at 6,000 feet is only 120 mph, but is up to 132 mph with my Larry's intake and Stromung 2.25" catback.

When I tried your mod, top speed dropped from 132 to 112mph when I removed my Larry's Cold Air Intake - even with a stromung 2.25" catback still there.

Yet, with my Larry's intake in place and having replaced the stromung for a stock muffler, top speed only dropped to 126 mph.

Question

Faraz, I keep hearing you speak of TRi's air filtation kit but when I went to their website there are no pics. Did you have a pic? Have you seen one in use? If yes, how does it work? I have a MY00 and will be looking for one.

Sunrise, it's sounds interesting, but what happens when air gets pushed _out_ of the multiple entry points.

With air swirling and traveling all about like that, I imagine you would lose some velocity with that setup.

Air coming in the vent scoops would slam together in the center pushing the air out of the central vent.
