Default New owner research (Some questions)

Hello,

I recently bought a '98 Legacy GT in great condition. I love the car, and, as I've always done with my other cars, It's time for me to start researching the vehicle. I've owned three other vehicles, and none of them have really been any fun to mod. I'm hoping I get the opportunity to finally work on my car a bit with the Subaru.

That being said, I know very, very little about Subaru's cars. Of course the first thing I want to know is, what engine does my car have? I know it's a 2.5, but what I don't know is the model, how it compares to other Subaru engines, what mods are interchangeable between the different engines, etc. Naturally I'd also like to know where the best places to purchase Subaru mods are. I'm planning on starting off lightly with a nice exhaust and an intake, and maybe pulleys (If they're available for these cars). Those mods are usually a good bet for any car, I'm just not sure where to go after that.

I know my questions are a little vague and I AM reading the stickies, but I like to ask the questions myself, since it helps to get to know some of the people on the forums as well.

Any sort of information is appreciated. Thanks

There are lots of mods you can do for this car

www.scoobymods.com

and you can add almost all the engine parts that fits a Imprezza 2.5 RS as they share the same engine (EJ25)

Borla Headers are great too if you want that nice Boxer engine sound

www.subarustore.com

Brad at subarustore (aka Titan motorsports) can help you with parts, great guy, great shipping too!

Just have a look around this website (lot of searching) and you will find a weath of info, then you can make your own choices

PS: find out if the head gaskets where done on the car, if not start saving because it's a VERY common thing with that DOHC enigne. The good thing is the new head gaskets are really good and seems to solve the problem (time will tell)
