I read some OK reviews too, but I think you can get much better tires in that range or for just a little more.

Kumho 712, Toyo Proxes 4/fz4, Falken FK-451

Look at my thread further down the page, I just bought 4 Falken 451's for $350 total, out the door...

oh yeah....another issue is they are H rated, and will most likely last a crapload longer...i know i cant really sustain speeds over 130 or whatever with those...or so they say..but who does that anyway?

H rated is the minimum for out cars, I think, your tire place should know.

Did you search here for posts on that tire?

Is that the HRII 405? I believe someone posted a while back that they were big time unbelievable noisy.

Default I have them

I bought them because the retailer has a WRX and gave me a fellow-WRX'r-discount price. My impression of them so far:

Street: quieter than the RE92s and better traction by far.

Auto-x: Much better than the RE92s, not as good as Kumhos or Falkens, but as far as I know the tread wear is better.

Other: The Hankooks are so much better in the rain than the stock tires its not even funny. I should emphasize that the improvement I noticed was when it was still raining - especially going through puddles & water running across the road. During my autocross runs that came after the rain stopped, and without standing water on course, the difference wasn't quite so dramatic. But that could just be my driving.

I have a set of hankook k104 in 17" on my wrx and I love them. They perform well all around especially in the rain. I definately would get another set.
