Default Snug Top.........Lower Prices..Maybe?

I have read alot of posts where people are paying 1500.00 plus from the dealer for the Snug Top Cap.............

So I did a search and made a call......$900.00 installed

Company 5 STAR TRUCK & AUTO ACCESSORIES
Address 7033 TOPANGA CANYON BLVD.
CANOGA PARK CA 91303
Phone 818-348-9100

They sold only one.......and the person picked it up and took it back over seas.........

Any better prices out there?

I also noticed they have a rebate coupon available from Snug Top

Sounds like a good price. esp. since it's installed. It doesn't take that much to install though. If your somewhat good at following directions find out if there's a discount without the install. Then read this .

Default SnugLid

I just bought a SnugLid SL for ~$990 incl. tax and installed from a SnugLid dealer in the Denver area.

The cheapest we have gotten them for out here is about $1500 so $900 looks good to me...

The company doesn't have any dealers in my area (Massachusetts) and told me via e-mail that I could order it directly from them. The problem is that they haven't replied to an e-mail I sent about a week ago asking about the price and shipping.

If there was a suitable alternative, I wouldn't give them a dime at this point.

Default Penda Top

I went through the same problems with Snuglid - I could not find anyone to sell me the product. I eventually settled on a top from Penda (Tri-Glas) through a Leonards Truck Supply. After calling around I got the top installed for $850. It looks great (they color match at the factory, seals good (not 100%), is a breeze to remove (one person less then 2 minutes) and locks the tailgate. Bonus is gas mileage. On my last highway only trip I averaged 26.2 (turbo) at 75MPH+ with A/C on. My daily driving is now averaging about 23.5. Hope this helps!

My dealer use to sell the Penda cap but stopped after several returns. Not quite sure of the entire store, that's just what I was told. There were some issues with quality. The one I saw in person required you to only remove a few pins to lift off. It is much lighter than the snug top.

There is a lot less data on the Penda/Glasstite product on the web then for the Snuglid. Do a search in the Baja forum for PENDA and you will get some good information. This link has some very good photos: http://www.truckaccessorystore.com/new_product.htm

As I said before I am very pleased with the lid. It is one piece and comes off really easy. It is not 100% watertight so if that is a must then this is not the product for you. I could find no local dealers for the snuglid and would of had to pay retail + $150 to get it to me (about $1400) and then install it. I am totally happy with the Penda lid. Good Luck!

Default Factory hard bed lid

As you may, or may not know, the '05 Baja turbo with leather package will come standard with a hard bed cover. I think they will be arriving in late August or September. Not sure who the suppler is however.

I asked Thousand Oaks Subaru about this package and they did not know anything about a special package Baja with a lid?

I wonder if this is a special edition for the East....

They're probably just trying to unload what they've got. I've heard it from several dealers that the leather-equipped '05 Baja turbo will get a hard bed lid.

When my dealer sold the PENDA cover it was not part of a package. I think they just ordered them from PENDA and just resold them. I don't think they are doing it any more.
