I believe Calebz Intercooled his.

When it comes to these Old Skool sube's alot if it is DIY. There is not much available for these cars. But that is %90 of the fun!

You can lower them the ghetto way by cutting coils

If you run a 5 lug conversion that will generally lower the car a bit (you use XT6 components)

WRX intercoolers fit as do RX7 and Saab units. Maybe starion ones too.

If you want more performance install a 3:90 manual tranny into the car

Yup yup.

First things first. Ditch the auto tranny. Get a 5 speed.
Second, make sure the motor is sound befor you start cranking up the boost. Fix the oil leaks(don't even try to say it doesn't leak any oil )
Third - Top mount intercoolers are going to be the easiest way, obviously you will lose your spare tire space. Thats the price you pay to be a pimp.
I am currently using an RX7 IC and Recirculation valve. Blow off valves are for ricers that want to sound fAstAr! The will confuse your computer and make the car do funny stuff without other 'band aids' to make up for it. Its a lot of work for absolutely no performance gain. Recirculation is the way to go on an old school soob.

Boost controllers.. there are a couple of links in the "GL-Turbo" thread part way down the old school page. Those links contain the instructions for home made boost controllers.

Lowering. Don't heat/cut or otherwise molest your springs. There are three or four different spring/strut combinations for EA82 soobs. for the front, the XT springs/struts are the shortest.. nearly 2 inches lower than the 4WD srtut spring combo.
Don't know wats shortest for the rear, but I'm betting its the RX setup. I am currently working on a shorter/stiffer rear suspension setup that is still practical for everyday use.

Oh, almost forgot. My RX7 IC setup , complete with pipes, hoses, recirc valve.. everything needed will probably be for sale soon.. Its almost time to upgrade

thanks for all the help i will see if i can get enough money for the new tranny but that is a lot of dough and the motor doesnt leak cause it was just recently changed to a new one and it is running pretty good. it is really hard to find rx-7 or sabb parts out here in colorado and i was also wonderin if i could use a porsche ic for my scooby i heard u can but i just wanna make sure cause i know a guy who is sellin a porsche ic pipeing for cheap so if u guys could help me out with that would be great.
thanks alot for the help and i am very willing to know now and i was also wondering what is the main purpose of the whole power lite??? and if i change it to 5sp will i lose it or what???

No .. its not.

RX7 IC - Ebay

Saab parts.. those damn things are almost as plentiful in CO as subarus.. Try Mile high in denver. Great people, decent prices... Trust me on this one. My wife is from CO and both of us have owned multiple Saabs... However, I will say, that through experience, I have found that the 900 IC is not the best fit.. and the 9000 IC is wayyyy too big for a soob without some serious modification.

As far as the porsche IC.. sure mang.. whatever works.. as was said before.. its all about what you can make. I have never seen another EA82T with an RX7 IC, but it seemed natural since its made to be a top mount. WRX IC is still probably the best bet.

Any IC will work if you can figure out how to mount it and plumb it. They all work the same (talking air/air ICs.. Air/water ICs are a different story.. but will still work if you know what you are doing)

Remember.. Ebay is your friend

As far as the power light you were referring to.. I have no Idea what you are talking about.. Never seen one of those on an old soob... But then again, if its a 4Speed auto, I have to admit that I never paid any attention. Generally all the 'Power" light means is that there is a controller in the Auto tranny that changes the shift points for economy or power. You will lose this when/ if you add a 5 speed.. obviously

My turbowagon used to be an automatic.. thats the first thing I fixed.. bleh on autos

yeah well i might be in luck and get some 2002 WRX Ic pipeing from my friend who has a wrx and is upgradeing the intercoller to front-mount instead of top-mount. so i might get pipeing and the intercoller itself all for like $10 which would be off the damn chain and it all happened after i convinved him that it would be better for his car and he can get a bigger intercoller and he did agree so i guess i an pretty good for a while. well know the question would be how would i install it and what tools would i need since u already have one and i was wonderin if i can take a 5sp out of and soob or does it have to be the same year and model???? well thanks for all the help

Sure.. why not? Its a turbo car.. not like they are good for offraod and such.

Mine is going through a whole string of changes right now. Lowering and stiffer springs are definitely on the list.

Is your power steering fluid full?? My GL makes funny noises when the fluid gets low.

Fill it with ATF and NOT with PS fluid

ATF = automatic transmission fluid... a red oil..

Why use ATF?? Because the manual says so!

Additional note. If you are unwilling/unable to follow the instructions for a boost controller as listed in the link, any MBC will work. the more money you spend, the prettier it will look.

spare tire foes in the trunk/hatch.. when I have to put a lot of crap back there, I strap it to the roof.. My tires are too big to fit under the hood in the stock thingy anymore anyway.

The recirc valve I am using came from the same car I got my IC from. You can get them from RX7s, Saab 900/9000, WRX.. and probably about any old junkyard trbo motor.. except a soob, because they used a dash pot instead.

If you are using a WRX IC, the recirc valve bolts onto a flange on the front of the IC. If you can't find one, let me know. I'm sure I can get one locally for cheap.
