Default Kumho Ecsta 711: rim protecting edge? other options?

Do these tires have this edge or not? I am thinking of getting these and was wondering if this a feature. Thanks.

i have a set of 711's on my 17" rims. NO they wouldn't have been my first choice of a tire to buy but a friend got me all 4 with like 500mi on them for $90. BTW, mine are the Z rated which i believe are no longer in production.

anyway, they have no rim protector (at least in size 215-45-17) but overall i'm VERY impressed with these. They stick well, squeel little (just at the very edge), and road noise isn't bad. these aren't near as good as the Kumho MX i had on a prev car but are much better than the 712's i've run on another vehicle.

The 711's are JUNK....as are the 712's.

They are old news....do some more research and you will find MUCH better tires for about the same $$$.

it all depends on how much you get them for. and you have to heat them up in order for them o stick well (ie track, not autoX)

the 712's on my friend's supra felt like any other normal street tire on the track until they warmed up... then gripped like crazy.

of course, if you can get hookups somewhere, then there are other tires in the same price range that are prolly better like the yokohama ES100's or falken azenis...

as for the "lip," it depends on what sized tire you're running on what sized rim...

or just learn to park and not curb your wheels

Can you recommend others in the same price range, either summers or all season? Thanks.

I would put the ES100 on the wheelbarrow to take the 711's and the 712's to the fire....
