Someone else posted a link to sale prices on hoosier race tires. http://www.hoosiertire.com/r3s03sal.HTM Sadly they dont have any 225/50 16s, but I was wondering if the 245/45 16s would fit without rubbing. Has anyone had 245s on their stock wheels? Also does anyone know if they would bump me out of D stock?

Almost positive that 245/45 will not fit your stock rims. 225/50 are very tight, installed some on my friends WRX and it looks really aggressive almost to the point of not fitting. you do have the 16x6.5 inch rims correct?

derh........................
i HIGHLY doubt 245 width anything will fitr on the stock 6.5 inch wide wheel. 225's alone are pushing it (but will fit) |

Larry Fine a couple years ago was running 245/45/16 on the stock WRX rims. Right now he is running 275/40/17 on the stock 04 STI rims (17x7.5).

When searching for tires almost every website will list the minimum rim width for that size. I believe the minimum listed for most 245 tires is 7.5-8". No, they will not work on the stock wheels, unless you want to be unsafe and risk hurting yourself and others.

Consider the P215/40ZR16. I know they aren't the widest, but there are some advantages. My 'theory' is that the extra width isn't very beneficial in stock class, because w/o the camber adjustment, I'm only using the outside of the tire.
I've been using the 225/50ZR16 so far this year, but will switch to the lower profile for better gearing. It will even lower the car about an inch. ![]() |

This suggestion would obviously just be for a temporary track only basis. Not permanent or for a daily driver.

I've seen 245 Victoracers on stock WRX wheels, but I don't think it was an advantage over the 225s because the sidewall is SO bowed to fit on the 6.5" wheel. The 215/40/16 Hoosier does rock on response and gearing though, Hoosier has a sale on outgoing A3S03s. Check out their website.

Anyone using the 215-40-16's on stock RS wheels (16x7)?
I'm considering this setup next year for solo2..... but Hoosier is recommending a 7.5" wide rim..... |
