Have a Nice Day? so my friend let me drive his new srt-4 today...

The car has no feel or feedback for the driver. There's very little input from the car for the driver via the petals or stick or wheel compared to the WRX.

Well, we get to a green light I want to take a left on and I yield... and then I punch it to see what she'll do (I'm less than a 1/2 from my parking lot at this point).

Well the thing's got great torque, and it's FWD, so I'm skipping the wheels as I come out of the corner and as I pull past the girl who was in front of me my buddy says, "I think Mr. Policie Man is gonna pull you over."

I didn't look in my rear view, but there was a cop behind me at the light. I look up and the cop is flying up behind me (lady cop)!!! She must have thought I had some huge nizzuts to pull a move like that.

Well, she drafted me all the way until I pulled into the parking lot, but she let me got. I didn't really shatter any land speed records, but I don't think she liked my aggressive driving.

All told though, I'm glad I got the WRX.

Though the SRT-4 is a dangerous car... cheap power with little feedback in the hands of teenagers... uh oh.

I owned one for a little while. I ran it into a tree. That's pretty much how I feel about that car.

That doesn't mean its brand new.

It just means its new.

You can have a car that is new to you but its older.

Is the lack of feedback because you're not used to the car and unaware/unable to feel things going on? I feel that way about pretty much every vehicle I get in until I get used to it.

I assumed it was brand new because there is absolutely zero reason to buy a used one.

Even if it WAS new..... WHO CARES....

You think that the cars that are "test drive" cars, that get driven hard from day one, break after 100,000 miles??? NO....

Break in is one of those never ending arguements...

I've heard some mechanics that have been building motors their whole life say that it's best to drive it from day one, like you're going to drive it on day 1,000....

:monkey: to people who bitch about break-in

actually demo's have a lot of odd problems, not usually powertrain related though, more like advancing broken parts elsewhere, brakes and such. It's not a bad idea to take it easy on a car for the first 1k-3k miles but you don't have to.

agreed! drive it however you like. My RS was bought with 250 miles from the dealer. I guess it was the demo car.

It was great until I sold it, and AFAIK its doing great for the new owner :knock on wood:.

on the words of fwd fast cars: my buddy has a supercharged GSR and that thing hauls! What I dont like is cornering fast b/c of the torque steer..

Otherwise its alot of fun

I drove mine hard from day one... the only thing that failed was a clutch at 20K miles... but that has nothing to do with the reliablity of the drivetrain... that was just me racing at the quarter mile track every weekend....
