Cheap or DIY upgrades to 4EAT

Are there any relatively cheap, or DIY upgrades that can be done to a 4EAT?

I've heard that on cars with computer controlled transmissions, there's a dropping resistor at the pressure control solenoid and changing that value or removing it all together can have an affect of line pressure. any info on this? good or bad?

tranny cooler is the only thing i would call DIY.
