Question Good/cheap wheels wanted

What are good alloys that are not too expensive? Looks don't matter, would be for track use only.
Not too heavy, please.
16/17"

They are kinda heavy-- about 18-19lb I believe-- but for 16" a good candidate would be the various Team Loco wheels. Under $150 each.

If you're thinking open track and autocross, you might consider 15x7 and 225/50-15 or 225/45-15 although both hurt your top speed. (Not that a near stock RS can get to rev limit in 5th, not even at Road Atlanta.) A cheap 15x7 wheel that will work is the Kosei K1 racing, it is marginal at only +45mm offset though.

Thumbs up

I thought the factory MY00+ alloys were pretty light (17lbs.?) for being factory wheels. You can probably find a set of these for cheaper than aftermarket wheels. Plus, they clear the STi 4 pot brakes!

Good point, you could lurk around for some OE take-offs. $300-500

stock rims are 16lbs. i was going to get some team loco 16" next spring. tire rack has em for 120 and walmart carries em in the 100-110 $ range you aren't going to find anything cheaper except maybe some old OE rims. i plan on mounting my R1s (when i get em) on the stock rims and put the RE92s on the team loco ones, since they're heavier.

I thought the Team Locos came in 45-47 offset.

The only other lightweight 16" rims I can point to are the Racelines which are about 17 lbs and cost in the $200 area.

Ummm, before you get sold on those TeamLoco's, better check this out. They can rub on an Impreza.

http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Foru...ML/001640.html

The offset for the TeamLocos is 47 mm. They are Toyota wheels, and do not quite fit an Impreza, though Tirerack will tell you differently. Some people use them successfully, some don't. Beware.

Yeah. i would look for someone selling the OE 16" RS wheels. They are light and will clear the brakes. That's what I am using for the track.

I have Team Locos (not quite sure which ones) with A032Rs (205/55/16). The best I could do at Watkins Glen this weekend was ~105 (through the Esses and backstraight).
No rubbing problems, fit great. I bought them from tirerack.... only problem was they sent 16 lugnuts... when I complained they sent me an additional 10!! Woo Hoo!!

The last time I talked to Tire Rack, they had gold RS alloys OE take-offs for $109 each! But that was a couple months ago.

No, I didn't see any other RS's. Talked to one guy who owned a '99, though. He also had a neon challenge car....
