Especially on a dynojet. UTEC stg2 cars usually put down 220-230 with torque not far behind.

Saturday, on the same type of dyno I put down 236 and 231 to the wheels with AP stage 2 93 octane. Mods were XX Tuning header and uppipe, TXS stealthback with cat, Scoobysport twin tip axleback and Perrin intercooler hoses. This was on a 2004 WRX 5mt.

That is very interesting.
Check this post of pre-accessport stage2: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597757

HP diff of about 12hp, torque diff of about 2ft-lbs, at least both in the positive direction with the accessport. The mods aren't exact, I know.

Maybe he is giving some buffer for safety in the timing but that a/f curve of 12.5:1 ish until redline of low 11.x:1 range doesn't seem the richest/safest for 91 octane... but that is just me [shrug]

I'm guessing my numbers are lower because of the downpipe. It is the downpipe that stromung used to make before they had the divorced wastegate tube on the downpipe like axiom. Torque seems low. It is not a bellmouth or divorced wg + I also have a high flow cat on the downpipe.

I think its the cat that is holding you back like you said. I dont think its the mouth of the DP because the HKS is just like stock.

So that's a 38whp gain and a 20 ft-lbs of torque gain... that's not bad is it? Although I am losing more and more faith after seeing all these Cobb Stage 2 dynos.

Well the gains won't can't be optimal obviously since everyone has a different setup. What i would really like to see is someone running all cobb and see what they are getting. Then I would be disappointed if the gains weren't what they are claiming.

Here is mine, Cobb stage 2 93 octane
Mods: Cobb catback, Helix DP and of course Cobb Stage 2 93 octane map. I am satisfied with my #'s. Car runs smooth and strong.

cobb's torque always seems a little low compared to other tunes, they seem to get more hp out of their tunes but not enough torque

remember guys, we are also looking at a different dyno (not all dynos are alike) i'm sure it may have some effect with his mods as well, and his car over all, every car is different and will react a little differently typically around -/+5.

Remember he's running a high flow cat and a non-bellmouth/divorced wastegate downpipe. I think his numbers are pretty reasonable. I'll try to use my g-tech pro to get a baseline for you and I'll try to dyno it in the future to show my results. Mods are-perrin divorced wastegate, hks hi power, gutted up pipe, vishnu intercooler hoses, lightened flywheel/act clutch, and some other misc. items (grounding wires etc...) I should be getting my AP in a couple of days so I'll let you know how it goes.

You do understand that HP is calculated from torque as a function of RPM, correct? If so, your comment makes no sense. Cobb may not deliver the highest peak torque, but their torque curve does not fall off as fast as other tunes I have seen. My stage II dyno held peak torque from 3K to 5.5K RPM which means peak power from 5.5K to 6.5K RPM which is exceptional for the stock turbo. hence the reason Cobb's peak torque numbers may be lower, but their power numbers are strong.

FYI my Cobb Stage II numbers were 216.8WHP and 214.2 on 91 octane in 90+ degree heat last September. Right on par with their 220/220 estimate when you factor in the heat. Mods at the time:

Scoobysport TBE with Prodrive axleback
Removed intake resonator
Samco IC hoses
AccessECU Stage II 91 octane

What you mean power curves that go up as fast as they go down are no good?
