Anyone buy thier WRX out of state and get charged CA tax when registered here in Cali? I picked up my STI in Vega$ yesterday and was hoping not to get charged tax since it was an out of state purchase. Lucky for me it meets CA emissions. Here's an attention whore pic:

i believe that if you bring it into ca w/o registering it elsewhere, you'll have to pay the regular sales tax you would pay if you bought it here.

You will definitely be paying sales tax when you register. If you didn't have to, don't you think everyone would go to Vegas and save themselves $3k on an STi?

I believe the car has to stay registered in nevada for 90 days prior to bringing it here to avoid sales tax.

ya i was thinking that too.. i was going to go to Iowa or some non-existing state and buy a car there and road trip back ,
but even if u had to pay CA tax, wouldnt it be cheaper? for example, everything in texas is so cheap! but avg wage is way lower ... oh! *added* is this the blue sti on norton pl. in hollywood?? i always see it when i drive by to my friends house... that driveway looks very familiar |

This is easy; I don't even have to do any research. Moreover, I think it's a solution that's appealing to you, everyone in SCIC, and the citizens of Irvine:
Move to a state without sales tax. Due to distance, I recommend either New Hampshire or Alaska, both states where you are more likely to get a good deal on an STi as well. -Stephen ^^^^^^ I'm 100% serious. Quote:
