Default odd boost noises

Ok, I have a SOHC 2.5RS motor with a wrx turbo kit on it. I am running 5 psi and when I engauge boost, right around 3 or 4 psi I start to hear a crinkle type noise. I think it may be boost escaping into the atmosphere but not sure. I hope its not serious and I just wanted to see if anyone knew what it might be. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

yes, if it's beebees in a coffee can, or a loud crackeling sound..... GET OFF THE GAS!!!!!! that would be pre-detonation, and it will destroy your motor.

Your NASIOC Administrator

I am running pig rich though and I have wrx injectors. But yes it does sound like beebee's in a coffee can now that I think about it. I have the motor running on my 1.8 ecu and harness in MY95 L so I wasn't able to hook up the knock sensor so I can't tell if it is knocking on my safcII. Pre-detonation though huh. Wow I had no idea, thanks ALOT for the input Aphex, I really appreciate it.

Engine Knock... http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonation/detonation.html

Either your timing is screwed up, or your fuel is insufficient, either way, if you continue on it you will blow up the engine.
Then it'll look like this -> http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528857
