Default clarion cd player and displaying song titles in mp3 format

So I take my first stab at buring an mp3 cd and everying goes well....fit like 90 songs on it in 5 folders......my cd player will display the folder titles but not the songs.....the owners manual says that all text needs to be in ACSII format or something like that..whats does this mean? What do I need to do to get my mp3 song titles to display?

I believe that means it supports the 8.3 file format. But I could be wrong. 8.3 means you are limited to 8 charactors for the directories/files and the .mp3 extension. Most mp3 players will also display the id tags on the mp3's which can be longer. You can edit the id tags with win amp or other mp3 software. Some mp3 player will only display the mp3 in the root directory and not sub folders. I don't know anything specific about this player. Try burning a cd with all the files in the root folder.

when i had a clarion deck, i had the same problem...until i realized the deck is set from the factory to only show the folder titles. you just need to change the display properties to show file titles. i don't have the deck anymore so i don't remember how to do it (i think it was like pushing display or something like that to keep scrolling through different options) but if you read the manual, it'll show you how.
