Installing a downpipe is really easy. Just put your stock downpipe on and go take the test, go back home and put on the catless one.

In the part of OH I live in, if your car is within a certain model year all they do is plug in a scanner to make sure you are not throwing any codes. Then they do a visual inspection (sometimes). Pretty much as long as you are not throwing any codes, which I'm not, you won't have problems.

I live in a county that has a population of 50,000 in 562 sq. miles.

Emissions testing? Does this have to do with raising livestock?

I live in Florida now but when I was in NY i new somone that would pass it. If you get caught screwing with the cat even in florida you can get in alot of trouble. Theres no emmissions here but anything that is not stock you can still get a ticket for. laters Mikal

That's a national law. If you are caught removing anypart of the emissions system you can be fined.

If it is functional. I ran over "blank" and my exhaust was destroyed and I replaced it. I live in freaking Kansas though. I will be OK as long as there are no flames coming out of my exhaust and melting the paint off the cop car behind me.

But if you replaced it it must be replaced with a completely function cat. Race cats don't actually count.

MD doesnt do the sniffer test on OBDII cars anymore, so if you don't have a CEL, then you "sould" be fine, but They might look if they hear it. I just got my car tested, I put my cats back on to be safe.

If you are in a state that cares about emissions. Kansas only has an "inspection" for cars purchased out of state. You pay X$ and the inspection consists of making sure the vin on the car matches the vin on the title. Inspection complete. Instate purchases never require inspections. BFE has it's advantages once in a while.

Only for the first 50,000 miles, after that it is up to the laws in your indivdual state.

In Texas they plug in to the car and make sure you aren't throwing a CEL. I had mine done yesterday and the guy failed me at first because he couldn't find a cat. I told him that the cat was in the uppipe before the turbo and he belived me and passed me...

Hello from the emissions capital known as CA

Like Jewpac said, that applies up until 50K miles. Once you have reaced 50K I believe you are allowed to "replace" the cats but that may vary per state. WRX GRL was sent to the referee, and passed with only one high flow cat passed her turbo... yes, passed visual and emissions. Now maybe she got an easy tester but you might be fine if you are passed 50K to change to a hi-flow cat.

I voted: cheat by some other method... unfortunately its just a matter of knowing a friend that knows a guy... a couple hundred bucks and your set. You could possibly check around and maybe someone you know does in fact have a hookup. I actually have a couple friends that have this hookup. But, if its just a turbo back then just slap the stock one back on for the test and take it back it off when you get home.
