Default If you lived in Europe (all things being equal), what kinda car would you buy?

Let's say you lived in Europe, all things in your live being equal (same job, equivalent pay, etc...) what kind of car would you buy that would fit your budget (no dream cars here please!)? It also has to be something that you would use every day, and that would fit your lifestlye etc.... (for instance, if you lived in Sweden, and you had a family, you wouldnt get a Lotus Elise).

What would you get? I'm still doing research online...what happened to the Opel Calibra?!

New? Probably a diesel, and then a 320D would be nice for most of Europe. Though a second-hand 306GTI (or Impreza Turbo) would be nice if gas and insurance were not issues.

Thumbs up

Alfa 147 GTA

3.2 V6 24v (3179 cc, 250 BHP-EEC, 246 km/hr)
The brand-new 3.2 V6 24v petrol engine is capable of developing a power output of 250 BHP at 6200 rpm. The 6-speed manual gearbox gets the very best from the engine’s sporting qualities. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.3 seconds, with a top speed of 246 km/hr and average fuel consumption in the combined cycle of 12.1 liters per 100 km, figures that sum up the potential of the new GTA, which boasts a torque curve reaching 300 Nm at 4800 rpm, giving thrilling performance for both sporty driving and everyday use.

People with good jobs in Europe save for a long time to buy a Ford Punta!
With my budget I could probably get a ford Puma or something else small and sorta fun.

Actually I had a rental diesel Seat Ibiza when I was in Vienna, it was a pretty nice car, maybe some sorta small diesel would do.

The Opel (Vauxhall in UK) Calibra died a few years ago. It wasn't really very sporty (it was built on the chassis of a dull family car), although the turbo version has a small cult following).

I thought I was; how about a Renault 4? Or maybe a secondhand Lada?
