Default What should I do? What would you do?

Here is the deal,

I advertised my AGX for sale. Someone local, and from the board, said he was interested, and wanted to come see them. So, he came down, and took a look at them, and wanted them. He asked if the price was firm, and I said ya, because I had just lowered the price.

He said he only has 3/4 of the amount needed. It turns out he didn't need the springs I had on them since he had some "Skunk Springs", so I said, no problem, take them (He wanted to install them ASAP, and said he was probably gonna do it that night) take off the spring, install them, and then return the springs to me, and pay me the rest, or keep the springs, and paypal, send me a check, or cash, or whatever. He assured me he was getting paid the next day, so I was cool with it. Besides, a fellow suby owner, and in the past, I have been helped, I was trying to give some back I guess.

He took the AGX's and springs, and I figured all was good. Well, I just got a call from him, and he is like, THE SKUNKS DON'T FIT, CAN I RETURN THE STRUTS TO YOU?

So, should I take them back? Is it a done deal? What does everyone think.

He should have done his research, though I don't know if he would have been able to get a definitive answer before trying it out. It's perfectly within normally accepted business ethics to tell him "too bad."

However, if it doesn't really cost you that much to take them back and resell them to someone else, it would certainly be nice of you to just give him his money back. The choice is definitely yours.

Default Take em back?

I'd say go ahead and take them back. I'm sure he didn't mean no harm
and you trusted him enough to take them without collecting full payment.
Sure, he should have done his homework or called a few suby shops,
but I'm sure everyone at one time didn't know much about their subaru
fitment issues.
Charge him $20.00 for time and trouble to repost item for sale again?
I guess its really up to you.

Besides, why shouldn't he have to find another buyer. They are technically his.

Would it be fair if I called him up, and said, Hey, someone just offered me more money, can I have them back to sell to someone else.

But of course.

Maybe the fairest thing is for me to take them back, but keep his money until they are resold. He can sell them, and I will try and sell them.

Hmmmm, that might be the best idea I can come up with.

Did you recieve the money for the parts, or were you still waiting to get paid? If you money changed hands, he has the parts, and you have the money... then I say its a done deal.
If you wanna be a nice guy, then take them back. He's a fellow subie owner, and for the most part, we try and help each other out.

It seemed like he was intrested in the struts , not the springs. If thats the case, why would it matter?

Basically, I think I found another buyer, and will refund the money once the parts are sold.
