Default Anybody with spare motors!!!!

Well, I'm assembling my engine finally and all was going smooth....

I was putting the camshaft caps back on and one of the bolts snapped. Yes, its snapped when i wasn't even applying 15 ft. lbs of torque. Soooo, this is a special bolt that you can only get from the dealer after a phone call with the local dealer, the bolts cost 3 dollars each and I have to buy a minimum of 16. It would be nice to have a few extra I guess or maybe even enough to just replace them all but I'm having a hard time understanding why I should have to spend upwards of 75-80 dollars to buy these bolts. Plus it would be 3-4 weeks to get them in and I kinda wanna get this put back together.

So what I'm asking is if anybody has a spare motor around and could help me out with a bolt I would GREATLY appreciate it. Especially if its a phase one 2.5 DOHC, I only need one bolt but maybe we could work something else out if need be. Just a reminder I'm looking for the Camshaft Cap Bolts (has a 1/4'' shank that tapers down to a 6mm thread)

Thanks

Kyle

check some of the online subaru dealers, like allsubaru.com or somebody like that. Typically most local dealers have some strange ordering schedule so it takes 5 times as long as any competant person could get parts.

I'll check... I have a spare head in a drawer in the garage. PM me and I'll see what I can do.

Regarding the bolt breaking, yes, they tend to do that. I beleive the solution we came up with is that you need to have it lubed a bit with some grey sealant so that it wouldn't bind and just snap. Very strange indeed.

I might have some of those.

Oh and minimum of 16???

BS. Unless they come bagged as such (one part # for 16) then they are full of ****. And if they come bagged as a pack of 16, why would they tell you $3 each?

I called a different dealership today, they ordered me one bolt at $1.88 that should be in monday, hopefully its the right one. Something is definately messed up between the two dealerships being totally different when I'm ordering the exact same part. This really sucks, I was hoping to have it all back together tonite and in the car tomorrow, but now I'll be waiting till monday anyways. And those of you with possible spare bolts, you think they are different from DOHC to SOHC??? I can take a pic of a good bolt and post it if need be. Thanks for all the help tho.

Kyle

P.S. Kaos, is that your car featured in D-Sport (I think thats the name of the magazine)
