Default Taxas High Speed Shootout Results

Well, again it was just a great event. Hot but the speeds were faster.
For those of you who don't know what it is, this is a 1 mile standing start drag race against time and to see who can go fastest in the standing mile.
My psycho wagon hit 150.112mph in the 150 class. I think that was 1st place(closest to 150 wins). It's 16.12mph faster than when I first started on this in October of last year. C5 vettes are running 155mph and 155 is my final goal for the wagon. I took out the back seats and everything in the car I could think of, it was light and fast.
I was beating SuperCharged Cobras and an Audi RS6 with 500+ claimed HP, M Roadsters, I think he may have topped me on his last run, I will have to see later. I was taking video at speed of my boost and EGT and then adjusting boost and fuel mixture to get faster times. It was not the safest thing to do but it worked. October is going to be sick, cool air, and about 80 cars and 40 bikes, Unlimited runs.

On Sunday a 76 year old man drove from Houston to run his 04 2.5 Forester Turbo, I went with him on his first pass. He took off like a pro, feathering out from 4000. He ran a 125mph on his 1st and 2nd run. This guy was grinning for about an hour afterwards. He will be back.

The Ripler and his Sti were faster as well posting a 144+, not sure on his top speed but his car was running well, that dude can drive. All the speeds were up even in the heat because we had no head wind this time. In October, no head wind and cooler temps, I think we can see a 5mph increase in speed.

Top speed car was the HotRod Camaro 214mph 800hp+. The top speed street bike was 251mph. They drove from North Carolina to break the record and they did. It was painted like the #8 Bud car and did not look like anything special, it was a bad bike.
We really need more subbies at this event, everyone loves the cars because vettes and mustangs are everywhere but the subbies are odd and fast. No one looks at them twice until they see the speeds and then they crowd around.

For some more crappy video and decent picks go to www.bearadvertising.com/151 I will add more tomorrow.
151.112 should read 150.112.
The shots from May are at www.bearadvertising.com/146

Official results will be posted to www.texasmile.com in a few days.

I think I have the fastest top speed Wagon in Texas(Daily Driver)

I CAN ALSO NOW SAY I'M RUNNING 150MPH WITH MY HAIR ON FIRE.

Thanks Greg @ UG, Thanks Ripler, and to the Old Ghost thanks for letting ride in the Forester. We need more Subbies, they really have grown to love our cars and they want more of us there.
Scott

Damn... taht sounds like loads of fun. A legal, sanctioned event where you can reach the speeds most people only dream of reaching in their cars. I wish it were closer.

What kinda tires did you have?

Sorry, but I do not think you have the fastest wagon in Houston, let alone Texas. Technically I was not at the event, so you can say you are uncontested, but I would seriously doubt you can beat mine in a 1 mile drag. Lets head to the 1/4 mile some time and see if you are top dog there. And yes I am daily driven.

He said top speed, though
Although your 6spd might allow for a lil faster 1mile time

I am definately not gear limited, and 345 whp should give me the advantage in drag limited also.

Actually I have met Scott a couple times, and I have no problems with him, but I can't in good faith let that statement ride

I'd have to agree, sorry Scott

But 150mph is no joke, nonetheless. Consider that the C5 goes 155.. but compare that aerodynamic king to a box moving through the air. I give you mad props for that. You're just lucky I wasn't out there I'm just too scared.

Scott -- Nice run !! ---
I'd love to run the Texas Mile someday, sounds like a blast!
You have only 17 mph to go and you will be the fastest wagon in the world. (assuming FIA would accept the results of the Texas mile).

The current record is held by a subaru wagon here in Colorado --
http://www.subaru-global.com/about/h.../1998-001.html

Also this was not a short course like they use for the Texas Mile.

Pegdrgr -- I think the point is you may have a wagon that is "capable" of going faster, but without a certified time, I'd still have to give the nod to Scott

That is exactly why I said what I said, including an invitation to run me at Bay Town. He can legitimately say that he has the fastest certified Suby Wagon in Houston, but believing he has the fastest wagon in Texas is a bit optimistic.

Scott.. Congrats man. That is some good driving and some good power. I know how hard it is and what must be done to get to 150mph in those conditions. Believe me I know. Its a real test of the car.. I bet most cars on these forums would not even make it for a solid mile at WOT.. Thats the def of a safe and solid tune. Good luck next year man.

So you'll be there in October to post up your time right? YOU are lucky I haven't brought my wind cutting XT6s down to Texas. It would put that Camaro and the bike to same.

Great mph Scott! Sounds like fun.

I wanted to be there this time. Provided I am in the area I will be there in Oct, although I have to confess I expect to be puttting down a LOT more power by then. BTW I never said I was the fastest in Texas, that was Scott, I only said I thought he was being "optomistic" saying that, and that I did not think he was the fastest. Everyone just assumed I was being an ass.

Again, nice run Scott.

Hey, just found this thread. Sounds like there better be at least one more wagon out there in October. The 1/4mi doesn't mean squat for fast, only quick. I want to witness this battle first hand. October should be a lot of fun.

My best run with the STi was 144.804mph, ~3.5mph improvement over May with ~15F higher ambient temps. This is only with a Cobb AccessPort Stage 1 93, running 93 pump gas. My slowest run on Saturday was the Street Import 140 class winner @139.744.

I'm going to put an exhaust on the car, and possibly a few other tweaks. I'll be shooting for 150mph and the wagon(s?) in the Fall.

You are being an ass.

"My wagon is faster than yours, even though I don't have the times to back it up". Grow up man, and once you get a timeslip that says you're faster, then you'll get a cookie. Until then shut your hater-trap, thanks.

Awesome runs H.K. Phooey. I'm watching the videos now.

I read about this event last year, and it sounds like you guys really cooked this year!
That 251 mph bike was featured on Speedvision's Two-wheel Tuesday. It's a Suzuki Hyabusha (sp). owned by a mechanic at DEI and it's apparently street-legal!!!
