Default Which language to learn?

Which language should I try to pick up next?

Japanese, French or Russian?

I already know some basic French but nothing about Japanese or Russian.

Japanese is probably the easiest to learn out of those.

Mandarin Chinese is obviously the most spoken, but its speakers are fairly localized. I vote Spanish or French.

You're joking right??

Take Russian, you could get a 'job' easily being a translator or working for one of the many Govt agencies.

Something that you'll be exposed to...and have a chance to be immersed in and be able to use.....something practical. How bout spanish lots of spanish people here. French is kinda practical considering our proximity to Canada. But something like Farsi or Hungarian not too practical.

I tried learning a little Japanese before I went there. It seemed fairly easy for a language that has little in common with English other than some appropriated words. The pronunciation is simple and easy, but the grammar is harder because it's so different. Different, but not necessarily complicated.

Seriously? Planning any trips to Iran or the middle east in the near future.

An actress I like Catherine bell speaks Farsi fluently I was suprised to learn that, my dad said she was speaking it in an episode of JAG and then I read that her mother and grandmother speak it. I love her on Army Wives one of my fav shows.

I'll tell you Japanese isn't an easy language to learn.
Their language is kinda backwards, so it's like reading right to left. Like saying Smith Mister.
Neither is Korean.

Spanish; apparently with all the illegals, I HAVE to learn it in high school.

German is an extremely sexy language, but not that useful.
I say Spanish or Arabic.
I want to learn German, though.

Latvian is a cool language, but it is very complicated and only spoken in 2 or 3 countries.

Nope. My opinion being the same as yours does not make it less mine. If there is any failing on comprehension it would be you that have failed. The OP is after all asking for the opinions of any who wants to express one. It is my answer to the OP.
